I have an older spare notebook (Dell 8000) on which I installed Vista with no problem. It uses a PCMCIA card (TrendNet TE100-PC16R). Vista found it and installed the driver with no problem. However, I can't connect to the Internet. It says I have limited connection. Normally in XP, I can just plug in the cable and I am on. I don't even have to join the domain here at work. When I try letting Vista check the problem, it says it needs the driver for the unknown PCMCIA card. Well, it's already installed and shows up in the device manager as working properly. I didn't find this card on the list of being incompatible with Vista but I didn't find it on the list that it was. What am I missing? (besides a few brain cells) Thanks, Ted

Vista not connecting to Internet
Is Vista getting it an IP address? "Ted" wrote in message

Either check the "Status" of the interface or from the command line use IPCONFIG to make sure that there its getting or you've set the ip address and gateway correctly.
I've noticed that sometimes after making changes or for some other reason I have to disable the interface and then reenable to get it to work right, if you're using DHCP where you don't set your ipaddress sometimes doing an ipconfig /release first then doing the disable/enable has worked for me...
